We try and cater to all types of skaters here at Reskue but it could be said my roots are more hesh than fresh so i was stoked to read a review of the new Fallen vid "Ride the Sky" which said this in: "This XX minutes of film will give faith to the hesh-skaters that skateboarding hasnt fallen exclusively to the new-era hat wearing, Xgames aspiring, MTV show having fad the current generation seem happy to let our culture die in. Skatings back - it's dirty, it bleeds, but if the Fallen can get up and Ride the Sky, skating is alive and kicking in 2008."

80'S Bro!!!

Quiksilver put on an 80's comp recently, and this little edit is made to look like it is actually from the 80's, its pretty fun stuff.

As well as this we have had LOADS of new stuff in, Boards from Flip, Alien Workshop, Habitat, Black Label, Krooked, Real, Anti Hero and the first board from Dave Bachinsky which comes with the "what the f'#k is a Bachinsky DVD, all of which will be online tomorrow, We also have wheels from Hubba and Spitfire, Bearings and trucks are all well restocked too, including the new Haslam Indy stage 10s and they are online now!
We also have a load of new Jart boards still at just £35 in a whole range of sizes and some Jart wheels which are only 20 squid and pro models from Bastien and Danny Gonzalez.

I might have posted THIS interview with Steve Rodriguez from 5Boro before, but i guess some kids might still not know how good this company is, here is what he says about their boards:"This is usually an "industry secret" and I've always been told to be vague but our boards are made in the USA (Alabama specifically) of Canadian Hard Rock Maple - our woodshop takes great pride in the manufacture and screening of the boards and we prefer to spend a little more in the process by pressing the boards with the upmost quality and precision. This choice was rough because to spend this much time on each board individually costs much more but we all know the feeling of how bummed we are when you set up a new board only to break it when you know it should not have broke. I'm not saying that 5boro boards don't break but I am saying that the craftsmanship is second to none."

There is a hefty amount of footage over at this site for a German skate mag.

Busted!

The ledges at the library in town are skateable again and some kids went to check them out the other day, and classically came back saying they were kicked out.
Just remember to go to spots after they have closed, be friendly and courteous when you are kicked out of spots, being an idiot just gives skateboarding a bad name and you can always get a bit of a skate.
I'm gonna post up a few classic spots now and again on here because I keep hearing you guys complaining about a lack of spots.
Most security in town is ok really and there are probably a lot more spots than you realise, just be glad you don't live in New York:

Stuff and stuff

We have had some new stuff in, the Deathwish DVD! Its fifteen bucks so kinda pricy but you know Baker/Deathwish DVD's are instant classics, it is only available for a limited time too so pick one up! (or watch it on you tube in crappy quality not knowing what half the tricks are)
We also have the Landscape Joleon Pressey aka Joey Crack wheels in, and if I haven't said it enough already he was originally from New Milton along with Benny Fairfax, so represent the New Forest and pick em up!
Also the X Games was on the other night and you could watch it live on the web, after Jake Browns little mishap last year all eyes were on the mega ramp, and it was Danny Way that nearly killed himself this year, oof!

If you are feeling more raw street than extreme then you should check out the new TRAFFIC PROMO, I personally really like Traffic as a company, all the riders are sick and all the footage makes you want to go skating straight away. One In A Million

There as a cool comp that SLAP do every year where kids send in footage which gets voted on and picked by the mag staff and then the winner gets a full interview in SLAP, SLAP is one of the best mags out there and always has awesome photos at real and rugged spots, and their comp entries are no different, check out the honorable mentions vid too if only for the front board biggerspin, one of the best of the new generation of tricks popping up.

Sweets is a video from Sweet skateboards, a Swedish company you have probably never heard of, it is free with Kingpin magazine this month but nobody buys magazines anymore.
It is really good, even if just to see a whole bunch of new spots it would be good, but the skating is really good too, pick a copy up!

Here is the thing in its entireity, including helicopter angles! I think they are having a helicopter for the next Hoglands comp too.

Here is the final of the Maloof money cup, looks a bit like lambs to the slaughter to me, a comp where you have to throw yourself down stairs, but good skating none the less.

There will probably be better overall edits soon.

...is a huge comp which they have custom built a huge concrete park for, which cost 200,000 dollars, and they are gonna tear it down after the comp!

Violate clothing

We have been slacking on updates again because we have had a bit of a refit in the shop, come and check it out this weekend for the last few days of our half price sale, after this weekend all the sale stuff will also be online, but not at half price so if you want a bargain come in this weekend!

NASS

The NASS festival seemed to go off pretty well this year, no riots at least! The street course lookedc pretty gnarly but Reskue riders Jed Cullen and Marc Churchill both did pretty well with 8th and 6th place respectively, i heard Marc hurt his ankle in his last run, so get well soon mate!

DGK rudeness.

The latest line of boards from DGK are instore now, kinda, they are in black bags and have parental advisory stickers on, so you can only buy them if you are 18, maybe google it or something if you want to see em!
They are being sold as ltd editions and collectors have been quick to snap up full sets, so if you know anyone that wants a set, we have one!

Bastien Salabanzi

I just thought that some younger chaps might not know who new Jart pro Bastien Salabanzi is either, he used to be on Flip a few years back but had a break from the board for a while but now he is back, here is an old part of his from the Lordz video.

Danny Gonzalez

Danny Gonzalez was pretty big time a few years back, had a pro shoe on Globe but never really found a major board sponsor, but he has recently signed up to the Jart team, all Jart boards are made in Spain and we have them instore for just 34.99, which for a company that has a lot of pros including Danny and Bastien Salabanzi is really good value.
Here a couple of clips of Danny Gonzalez, he has a wierd choice in tricks which makes people love or hate him, all i know is doing a flip melon down Wallenburg is no joke!

So I know there haven't been any posts for a while but with good reason! I have been really busy trying to get the new site done, and to make it look really great i thought that instead of using stock photos from companies we would have a photoshoot of all the clothing in the shop, this took a while!

Black Box Employee Comp!

If you check out the Sidewalk website the footage from the Winch jam is currently on the front page which is pretty cool, well done to Rob Crawford for that, and the props Curt is collecting for his late back foot flip shuv is pretty rad too.
As well as this there is a new article on the Black Box site, home of Zero, Mystery, Fallen.
Black Box actually employs a whole bunch of skaters so they have an annual comp at their park for them.

Summers looking good!

So this weekend saw both a comp at Hoglands run by K2 and the Winch Jam. Reskue did its bit to support both, but when people found out you had to have helmets and consent forms for Hogs, the Winch jam seemed like a better option.
It was cool to actually have something at Hoglands, and kids were definately stoked on their prizes but older skaters went for the "run by skaters" option and headed down to Winch.
Well done to all the Winch chaps who helped put it on and all the extra bits they made for it, there is an edit up by mr Crawford on Southern Dynamics already, looks like it was an awesome day!
It is not often you have a choice of comps to go to so they are well worth supporting, and bear in mind that there is ANOTHER comp at Hoglands this weekend with an I-Pod for first place!
Anyone would think we have a scene!

Pro Tec Pool Party

A chap from Portsmouth way came in and told us about his mate going to the Pro Tec comp at the Vans park, here is a vid he made, that pool is huge!

We came back from Milton Keynes yesterday with a tiny bit of crap footage so i'll maybe have a little edit up tonight, don't expect much tho! If you haven't been there its well worth going if you are a street skater.

New Girl pros!

No big surprises here, Mike Mo Capaldi, Alex Olson and Sean Malto are now all pro for Girl, Mike Mo and Alex Olsons parts in Fully Flared were amazing and this is definately well deserved.

You may have noticed that while we have most of the good skate companies, a few weren't happy to let us have stuff from them when other shops in town sold them.
But a few things have changed recently and we are happy to say that we have stuff from Almost, Blind, Darkstar, Tensor and perhaps most requested Enjoi coming in next week, and it will actually be the stuff you might want too! Just been looking on the Deluxe site and they have THIS clip, pretty rad stuff, we should have both those wheels and the new Park burners, which are slightly softer and would be rad for the new Eastleigh bowl, in very soon.

Oh and not to big myself up too much but in an old post I was saying you should look out for Willows part in the new Flip vid, well apparently he has backside bigspinned Wallenburg! Also David Gonzalez is now officially pro so look out for a board from him soon.

Eastleigh Bowl!

Eastliegh Bowl is done and earlier than expected! People that have had a go say its rad so finally there is something good to skate in Southampton! Its a shame that it accompanies possibly the worst street course in the area.


Hopefully we'll have an edit up soon of some skating in there.

Fully Flared?

Rather bizzarely Lakai have the whole of their recent Fully Flared dvd on the site ready to watch?!

No tricks?

So i had some people ask me today where my footage was from the Didcot edit, i was there for 10mins and this happened... then ten minutes later trying to skate with a hipper i snapped my board.

Long time Soton skater Tim Bartelot came in today and showed me this clip of him and Phil Parker skating a secret mini nr Plymouth, pretty rad stuff.

I actually took a day off from the shop today and tested out a new lens I bought at Didcot, we basically filmed whatever just to see what the lens was like so you now get the chance to see the Reyno in action.

Flip

Flip have always been right on the money with picking up amazing skaters just before they blow up, but they have had a tough time of it lately, Shane Cross the Australian wonder kid unfortunately died in an motorcycle accident which Ali Boulala has now gone to jail for, and it has recently been announced that Arto Saari has left to join Alien Workshop.

However anyone who doesn't think the new Flip video is going to be anything short of amazing is underestimating one of the best teams out there, Flip have had some stick recently for having a "kiddy" team with a lot of very young team riders, but they know exactly what they are doing, and their ams which you may have seen very little of are seriously underated, check out Willow, there are too many amazing tricks in this part to talk about, but Joe Paget will love the 360 shove!

Also check out this vid of Tom Penny and David Gonzalez in Argentina, if only for the completely unexpected trick after Pennys mayday.

Stupidity!

For anyone who doesn't know the story: Mike Mo started a world record for 360 flips in one minute, then Englands own Jak Pietryga beat it, then some german kid beat it, so now Mike Mo has done this.
Just plain stupid consistency, I would be stoked on one smooth one! Mike Mo will win that game of skate this year.
