Aiight so yo...

Donovan is back with season two of Buttery Ass Mondays! I personally really like em, not enough skating for some though.
Also Baker Boys have some new jiggery pokery up on their website, which is cool as we are gonna be getting a whole bunch of new Deathwish decks tomorrow, 10 of em in fact!
We tried to go to Romsey yesterday with the intention of filming a little spring welcoming clip, but instead I wrecked my wrist on the second line I tried to film, stoked! Thats me out for a few weeks, but i'll try and get some clips of some of the rest of the crew up soon.
Hopefully we'll have some new footage of Marc and Greg up the bowl soon too!

Spring is here!

So the clocks have gone forward and I actually get to skate in daylight! We'll have a little "spring is here" montage up in the next few days, even if its just to prove I do actually ride a skateboard, and Reskue is a skater owned shop! But in the meantime, may I present to you, The Reyno, annihilating the big two at Kings park!

BANGIN!

Goofy vs Regular

I have just been reminded of this footage so thought i'd post it up, there is some stupidly good stuff in there, the 180 switch krook revert is bangin!

The next bit is pretty geeky so back out now if you are not a geek!

I came up with a theory once about regular skaters being inherently more gnarly than goofy ones and this is why:

Your right hand is the natural hand for holding stuff because years ago, when all people seemed to do was fight and just wanted to conquer the world, you would hold a shield over your heart with your left hand and hold a sword in your right, generation after generation did the same thing all over the world until it became natural that your right hand was your "main" hand.
So in holding a sword and shield the stance adopted would be your left foot forward, so that your shield is the first point of contact, you would then engage your opponent with your right hand - this is why in anything where you stand sideways left foot forward is regular - including skateboarding
The only reason people would become left handed, or goofy footed, (goofy footed is named so because of the Disney character riding in this stance on a skateboard on an early disney cartoon) is if they descended from peaceful people that wouldn't fight, THEREFORE it could be assumed goofy skaters are more inclined to do more tech stuff that requires less guts, and regular people are more gnarly, Chris Cole, Jamie Thomas, Geoff Rowley, Danny way - All regular, I really thought I was on to something, then I remembered John Cardiel.

New Stuff

We have just got a whole bunch of Bullet decks which are only £30 (they are meant to be £35 but we're nice!) and some bullet wheels, which are cored and only £19.99. We also got a few Flip decks, they'll be online tomorrow.

Thursday, 26 March 2009

New Enjoi!

The first of our new spring stuff has arrived, new tees and hoods from Enjoi, as well as a couple of cool blind tees too, they are uploading onto the site right now, go and have a click on the Enjoi logo on the front page to see all we have from the Enjoi camp.

The half price sale is ending very soon this will be the last weekend, and we are getting pretty low on a lot of sizes (thats the idea!) all the new season stuff will be in soon so pick up one of the bargains while you still can! we should have new Duffs tomorrow including the highly anticipated Louie shoe!

Matt and Ranny who are regular Reskue lurkers are playing a gig at Hamptons tonight with their band DRAWINGS, so if you're about come check them out! Then Secret Wars is back at Soul Cellar - so not only do I sell you skateboards but I can plan your evening out too! Its all part of the service at Reskue.

SOMETHING FOR THE WEEKEND!

Last years became pretty legendary quite quick and I have people asking if we are going to do another one every week, so here it is!
All the info is on our MYSPACE - now get your groups in!
Basically if you skate, or have retired and are thinking about staging a come back, then do it! The more people that enter the comp the better, as we can then show the council that there is a need for decent skate facilities in Southampton.

Wangl Tangl warm ups part 2

Here is the second load of footage with a heavy Greg presence as well as mr Marc Churchill with a stupidly casual ollie up to smith.

More Skateboarding >>

Don't forget the Reskue vid will be out soon with full sections from both Marc and Greg.
Check back later today for an announcement about this years Something For The Weekend.

Monday, 23 March 2009

Fruity Euros don't like the UK!

Thats the only reason I can think that they weren't on the vid I posted yesterday, they were clearly killing it! Look out for Andy Scott literally bouncing off his hip!

Marty Murawski

This kid has been coming up for ages now, and this video has some sick skating and is pretty funny too, bonus!

Wangl Tangl

I said i'd link some of the footage from the Mini Ramp comp in Austria that Marc and Greg have gone to, so here you go, unfortunately they aren't in it! i'm sure there will be a Sidewalk edit with the chaps in soon though.
There is some snowboardy stuff at the beginning too, if you don't know what snowboarding is its like skateboarding but for rich white mummies boys who don't want to go to uni.

More from Wangl Tangl on Mpora TV >>

The Berrics

Clearly after BATB The Berrics are trying to keep traffic up at the site, and THIS BATTLE between Koston and Donovan Strain is something we clearly all wanted to see, and it is amazing, but I dunno about the ending, some of the tricks would be ridiculous to see anyway, but first go in a game of skate is just stupid. I was rooting for Donovan by the way.

Saturday, 21 March 2009

Gregs Favourites

Reskue rider Greg Nowik has a mini interview over on the Sidewalk site, it includes a little video of him tramming it up at a Globe contest too.
Greg has been over in Austria with Marc and they will have some footage up the site soon, after Greg oks his video part for the Reskue vid that'll be out as well!
there is meant to be a match of Donovan vs Koston going up on the Berrics too, could be epic, could suck.

New Decks

We have had a bunch of new decks today, including a couple of brand spanking new Plan B boards and restock of all the Harmony Harmonious series. All online now.

New Workshop and Santa Cruz decks

We have had a few new Alien Workshop decks to coincide with the success of Mindfield.
As well as some sale Bullet decks that are going out at £30.

We also have the Santa Cruz sale decks online now too. check the site for them.

Big in the game!

The first tour of the summer has been announced and boy is it a banger! Check out this poster and get excited! If there is loads of interest in this we may try and organise a mini bus or something, Etnies have built up a really strong team in the past few years, and Sheckles will bring out the crowds, it should be sick and its on my birthday too, so I might take my thirteenth day off in two years to go!
Click the pic to go bigger dumbass.
If you are to retarded to read then Bay 66 demo is on May 30th - thats the closest one to us and i'm pretty sure the rail will be annihilated!

New Brands!

With spring coming we are looking forward to getting new clothing from Cliche, Elwood, Diamond, Rebel8, Independent and Insight.

But looking forward to fall (or "Autumn" as its called in England!)we will be having a few new brands here at Reskue it will come round quickly so thought we'd give you a heads up now, first of all Fallen, everyone knows about Fallen after the recent video and i'm sure they will be popular as they are one of the only skater owned companies left and all the shoes are actually designed for skateboarding! Jamie Thomas is a legend and i'm definately gonna be rocking some Fallens when they arrive, which will be around August.

Also around that time we are gonna be stocking Famous some die hard skaters haven't been that into Famous as they always had good designs, clearly inspired by skate culture but didn't have a skate team, but in the last 3 years Felix Arguelles has been in charge of the skate team and they have picked up Jereme Rogers, Luis Tolentino and Darren Harper and ams Manny Santiago and Aquil Braithwait. I saw Felix at a petrol station in New York once and gave him a nod which makes us bezzy mates so i'm happy to be stocking Famous.

As well as this we are picking up two smaller brands: The Wild Ones and Expensive Taste, Wild Ones have a lot of designs by Maxx242 who is fast becoming one of my favourite artists, his style is clearly recognisable and he has done work for Osiris and Real on a few occasions already, he updates the blog over at Wild Ones almost daily but also has his own blog. He collects Star Wars figures so that might sway it slightly for me.
Expensive Taste is pretty focussed on Hip Hop and street art and from the same camp as Famous/The Wild Ones and Rogue Status.

We also had a new delivery of Belton Paint yesterday so there is currently a choice of 24 colours, at £4.50 a can, so you can get creative on your board, walls (legally of course) or stencil something up.

The Internet is scaring me.

I had no idea how many people were reading this blog, I know how many people look at the actual site but I wasn't too fussed about the blog as it was just kinda for local skaters to get them a bit more psyched on the shop and the Southampton scene.
HOWEVER I put a stat counter in the other day and its kinda scary, I now know that someone at the Starbucks in Seattle looked at the blog for a half hour the other evening, that someone in Missouri has been checking it out (hello to you), and basically people all over the world are checking up on Reskue! - Someone from Portland has even been checking on the story I posted about the skaters getting beat up.
I feel like I have a little more responsibility to make it good now!

I can tell you that I started editing together Greg Nowiks section for the Reskue vid, and knowing he had a whole bunch of footage chose a 7 minute song, I started editing and turned around after what felt like a little while, pretty pleased with his section, and it was four in the morning! the song is completely full, and he still has enough footage for another section! So you can expect a whole extra section from Greg, making one main section and two bonus sections! I don't even want to call them offcuts because the standard of some of the stuff he's doing is ridiculous, all the stuff we used to see on mini ramps taken to massive bowls and pools in America and Australia, I might even be able to muster a whole section of street stuff!

A few people have asked me about the Adventures of Joe Paget too, there will be more, I have two ready to go which I will hopefully have up in the next few days, with summer approaching hopefully they will be slightly more regular, as there is only so much you can film in a car park! Here is the first one as a little reminder.

I guess i should give you a link to something interesting too: Guy Mariano Epicly Later'd?

Davis Torgerson

I dunno if I posted anything about this before, me and Paget (and Rob Crawford but he is rooted firmly in Winch) seem to be the only ones that notice ridiculously good ams coming up, Davis is actually ridiculous, his ender on this video part is an NBD of the highest calibre, and it is just confirming what I have been saying, the Real vid will be amazing. Check out DLXSF for the Manifest from Real, which is interviews and photos from the entire team and gives a bit of insight to the skaters themselves, because they are actually people, and not video game characters!

And if you have seen a video on the web of someone you think me or Joe Paget haven't seen then e mail the link to Andy@Reskue.co.uk - no freestyle or fat dudes hurting themselves though please!

Real-ly good!

Another cheesy title to introduce you to the Real team at the Berrics, I don't know whether its worth posting Berrics stuff as they are the most popular skate site in the world, and you probably check it anyway, but enjoy!

This sucks!

A couple of things have happened recently that have really sucked, first of all the eS team were shot at down in South America and got a bunch of camera equipment stolen, read about that HERE.

Then recently a couple of skaters from the Burnside area got beat up pretty bad the other day, Taylor Appelo, whos brother Devin rides for Creature, had his jaw broken in three places by four guys, and as there isn't free medical in the states and he didn't have insurance he has been left with a bunch of medical bills. Getting money out of skaters isn't the easiest thing ever, but a fund has been set up to help pay, i'll post a link up when I know more and maybe by donating some cash some good karma will come your way. Read more about it HERE and watch the news report HERE.

Unfortunately as skaters we spend a lot more time out on the streets than most people, so the likelihood of something bad happening once in a while is upped a bit, keep your wits about you and look out for each other, and try and ignore facts like this which I stole from Wikipedia

"According to government figures Southampton has a higher crime rate than the national average. In the violence against the person category, the national average is 16.7 per 1000 population while Southampton is 39.4 per 1000 population and in the theft from a vehicle category, the national average is 7.6 per 1000 compared to Southampton's 26.4 per 1000. Overall, for every 1,000 people in the city, 182 crimes are recorded. In August 2008, a Home Office crime report showed that Southampton is the 3rd most dangerous city in the UK. The city has a growing knife and gun culture, Gang activity is also becoming more significant in Southampton; Narcotics in Southampton are a big problem with higher marijuana, heroin and ecstacy consumers then anywhere else in the South East and South Coast of England according to Home office statistics."

Fun Times!

Dekline Site...

...Is now live CHECK IT. We should have the spring Deklines very soon.

Spare a thought for Reskue friend Ranny, who sprained his ankle pretty bad last night doing a fakie bigspin flip down the big two at Kings, stick to the trannys Dave!

I'm pretty stoked it seems like spring is finally arriving, and a lot of people are coming out of winter retirement and getting back into skating, including OG Reskue rider Ben Moss, who is skating again after a year long hiatus, skating is definately better than World Of Warcraft!

Hampshire gets a mention!

Friday, 13 March 2009

Luis Tolentino

He definately has some pop, and his trick bag surprises me sometimes, but i'm not entirely convinced by his style, what do you think?

Daewon and Workshop.

This is another level really, tricks that are stupidly good anyway, done in socks!

Also we should have some sale City and Santa Cruz decks in today, restock on the ever popular Harmony, Karma and Motive decks AND the Alien Workshop video Mindfield.

You may have noticed I haven't said much about the Workshop vid, mainly because the post I would normally make saying "buy this vid its amazing" didn't even get a chance to go up, we sold out of our first load in 3 hours!

The video is amazing though, Jason Dill has some sick stuff, Jake Johnson is definately a new favourite of mine, Heaths bangers are ridiculous, AVE absolutely kills hit with his switch/gnar crossover steez - basically you need to buy it!
The DVD costs £20, but this isn't shops cashing in, we don't make much money on it at all and you get a 60 page book included in the price.
Less and less people are buying skate DVDs as you can watch them on youtube or whatever, but this doesn't support the companies and will just keep pushing the prices up as less and less copies get made it will be more and more expensive, so show some support for the companies that are pushing the boundaries of skating.
2 of the Reskue team riders, who would normally get a rider discount, paid full price for the vid because they know how good it is and want to support both the shop and Alien Workshop, and I was pretty stoked with how many people got the Fallen vid, it showed me there was some honest skaters out there, so do skateboarding a favour and buy yourself a legitimate copy!

Oh and one other thing for the people that keep asking abouth the Reskue vid, I am half way through finishing Gregs footage, he ended up giving me 15hrs of tapes, and there is some seriously good stuff on there so editing it down is no easy task! The Reskue vid will only be £6 so you have no excuse not to get it!

Stepping it up

Just a couple of days after I say that the games of SKATE are getting a bit stale here come Louie Lopez and Kevin Romar with a game down a set of stairs, Louies pop shuv and Kevins switch 360 were the sickest tricks I think. Maybe they have read the blog and decided to step it up a bit, or maybe not. Either way Louie is sick and i'll say it again if you haven't read this by now: THE FLIP VIDEO IS GONNA BE AMAZING!

If you need more proof of how amazing the FLIP team are check out Luans winning run from Tampa am, some of those tricks i have never seen anyone do, and he does them in a run, at a contest, ridiculous! So imagine what he can do with a bit of time!

I can imagine when he messed up the Hardflip, thinking "Darn, I might as well do a switch bigspin heel revert, oh I did it, might as well do a nollie bigspin heel revert too, this ledge is on the way back to it tho, so might as well do a nollie nosegrind." Obviously he didn't but the ability is just stupid.

Harmony

If you can handle the adverts then check out this vid of offcuts from the recent Harmony video, which we have for just £5.99.
There is some rad stuff in there.

Geekiness

Games of skate seem to be the hot topic around these days, and one guy had taken the stats from BATB and achieved ultra geek status.
To be honest if I had an office job its the kinda thing I would do when I was bored, its pretty interesting to see just how good Mike Mo was, and just how bad Rob Dyrdek is, if only all the Rogue Status heads had seen their leader!
Interestingly here is a quote from Rudy Johnson "History repeats itself. We're at a freestyle contest...and loving it." and its pretty true, remember there is more to skating than flatground! I have loads of kids saying their mates only want to skate flat now, which is pretty sad, lets not make it into the eighties again!

Saturday, 7 March 2009

Van Wastell

If you know about Van then you know, its not worth saying anything else, he was rad.

Thursday, 5 March 2009

Junior Spesh

I think i might have posted this before, but I just watched it again and its amazing.

Aero

I'm guessing a lot of people have seen this already, people always complain about skateboarding being used by mainstream companies, but they got Ty Evans (he made Fully Flared) to make this, and if a kid sees it and thinks "I might try skateboarding, it looks sweet!" then I think thats a good thing!

Oh and at the moment ALL clothing is HALF PRICE! - EVERYTHING! So come in and get a bargain while you can!
There is another Secret Wars event at Orange Rooms tonight too, so if you fancy heading to that i'll see you there!

Monday, 2 March 2009

aaaaaaaarrrrrrrggggghhhh

I always say I don't need to tell you to look at the Berrics, but go and look at it NOW! The two semi finals of BATB are ridiculous! I don't wanna ruin it for anyone that hasn't seen it but the final is going to be amazing.

City Southern Sojourn

Berrics blah blah blah, I shouldn't need to tell you to loo there, it is now the most popular skate site in the world (I think Reskue is second)

But I can tell you about THIS video from City, some smooth stylings in there.

Friday, 27 February 2009

I am cooler than Kanye West

Secret Wars is a pretty cool concept, basically two artists get about ninety minutes to fill a huge white board each with just black markers and ink, then a couple of judges and the crowd vote on the best to determine who wins the battle.

Here at Reskue we have supported Secret Wars for a while, giving them some prizes in the last series, but I hadn't actually made it down to one. So I headed down to Soul Cellar last night and its definately worthy of your support, the atmosphere was really mellow with some good hip hop playing and I ended up being one of the judges.

It turns out that Secret Wars isn't as secret as you may think and recently Kanye West put it on his blog saying how cool it looked, and it looks like there is gonna be a UK vs US event on the horizon.
I'm stoked that Reskue can support Secret Wars, and if you are an artistic type you may have noticed we have started stocking Belton Molotow spray paint instore, art and skateboarding go together like cheese and crackers so it makes sense for us to cater for local artists.

On the skateboard front we should have whole bunch of Plan B, Harmony and Motive decks in today ready for the weekend, and if you are thinking of getting anything in the sale make it snappy because its finishing soon!

Thursday, 26 February 2009

Dekline

Here is a little vid of some of the Dekline team in warmer places, Dekline have been steadily picking up a whole bunch of stylish guys including Olly Todd, Jason Lee and Soy Panday.

I had some Deklines a while back and they were actually really nice to skate in, so much so that I bought the same pair again! Unfortunately they got pretty popular and every emo kid in town had a pair, but lately they have been taking things back to skateboarding and are only available in select shops.

We are gonna be getting Dekline shoes in March including a cool Jason Lee colourway so have a look at these guys and think about rocking some Deklines soon.

Pancake day + Maloof comp

This has absolutely nothing to do with skateboarding.

But enjoy it anyway.

In a tiny bit of skate news the Maloof Money Cup will be back later in the year.
If you don't know what it is basically the Maloofs have a shed load of money, their sons think skateboarding is cool, so they make a massive concrete park and throw huge amounts of cash at top pros to kill themselves down massive rails, and then they destroy the huge concrete park after about a week when it could have been put somewhere as a permanant structure and made 1000's of people happy.

Bearing this in mind I thought you could make your own mind up about it with this handy little game!
Simply use these words and fill in the blanks.

awesome, corny, stupid, sick, crappy, exploitative, dumb, Judges, amazing, rad, red bull, massive, little, style, streets, chris cole, mike mo, mtv, raw, nyjah huston, p rod, maloof, j rog, koston, reynolds, carroll, reskue, disgusting, megapop, same-old, the berrics, car parks, skateparks, sheckler, naked, I, skating, watching, trademark.

I think the Money Cup is _______, ________ will probably win with his _______ _______ which is ______. I would rather watch _______ at ________ but what do ______ know, I prefer _______ ________.

Copy and paste this and change the blanks for any of the words above, send your entry to andy@reskue.co.uk and you can win some type of DVD, I have Traffic and Real ones in doubles so you can have one of them!

Post Crazy!

I have gone a bit post crazy today but I found a video part thats pretty rad so thought i'd share it today rather than waiting.
Have a clicky here for Joseph Delgados part from a New York scene video, blog regulars will be aware that I like the NY scene, I reckon this chap will be hooked up pretty soon.

The Stevie Williams/Josh Kalis footage from earlier this week had me feeling like watching some East coast gangster skating, I even got myself a DGK tee the other day, although i'm sure they will probably hook me up soon.

Mike Barker...

...has been getting some props from skate geeks like myself and Joe Paget, here is a bit of footage from his new board sponsor HYPE! Anyone who does front board pop outs and feebles on ledges is good in my book!

HYPE! SKATEBOARDS "BELIEVE" PROMO - MIKE BARKER from HYPE! Skateboards on Vimeo.

This is following the tradition of advertising small companies that we don't even stock at Reskue, good one!
We have loads of Plan B, Zero, Deathwish, Darkstar, Blind, $lave, DGK, Harmony, Karma etc too though! In fact that reminds me there is some footage over on the $lave site you might wanna see too!

Workshop vid should be here tomorrow or tues too!

Hmmmm

So a few of us got up at 7 am and headed down to kings park to try and film a few bits, turns out we thought spring had come earlier than it does and it was still pretty dewy, it was the first time I have skated in the daytime in about four months though so i'm not complaining, i'll keep the minimal footage we have for a future Kings Park webofsoap or something.

I'd hope I don't have to tell you to go look at the Berrics every weekend now, but just to recap for all the people that ask if there are new games up during the week: THERE IS ONE ON A SATURDAY, AND ONE ON A SUNDAY! And this weeks are bangers too!

On the subject of the Berrics maybe have a look HERE for a bit of insight into the place.

If you want to enter the Fourstar comp i'll leave it one more day, i've had a few more entries and i'll get them up in the next day.

And one more thing, i don't know if i already posted this but there are some offcuts of Jak Tongue up at 6:57, I didn't think backlips down rails could really be offcuts, but I guess Jaks just got it like that! The video should be rad.

New stuff online.

All the City and DGK decks are now online so go have a look to pick up a bargain. A full size range of Karma wheels are too.
Speaking of bargains we currently can offer Force and Thunder trucks in our set up deals and red/white Indys for an extra four quid! combine that with a sale City deck for example and you get a set up worth £111.47 for £90! Bargain! It is strictly while stocks last though so if you are thinking of getting a set up now is the time!

It isn't quite dark when i close the shop up these days so hopefully you'll be seeing the Reskue crew at some parks and spots near you soon!

I have had a few people ask about the Something For The Weekend comp - It is ANNUAL so we are gonna have one every year! So don't stress! I am always gonna try and have it in March at the beginning of the spring to get you hyped up for the good weather and fun times ahead, there might not be as many prizes this year (there was 40 last year!) but there will still be loads and it will hopefully mean the standard of entries is banging! Start thinking about what you are gonna do!

Thursday, 19 February 2009

Fourstar comp!

The entries for the comp are starting to come in, if you don't know about the comp you have to create a picture of someone from the Reskue team, in any medium and send or bring it in for a chance to win a Fourstar DVD, there is a still time as I have extended the deadline for a few more days so get on it!
Here are some of the entries so far so you can see the standard, or lack of, mostly based on Joe Paget! Click to look at them.

I miss Love Park

I have never been there and it is entirely possible the new generation of skaters haven't even heard of it, but Love park in Philidelphia was rad, the central part of the Philly and therefore East Coast scene from the mid nineties up to the early millenium.
And HERE is an edit with two of the best locals Stevie Williams and Josh Kalis, they were absolutely killing it back then and both cemented themselves into my favourite skaters list, the pop of Stevie and steez of Kalis are both amazing, have a look at the footage and if you have never seen Stevie skate before quickly try and decide which stance he is!

Strangely i got a Stevie williams deck in yesterday as well as restock of Karma, Harmony and Plan B decks.

We still have a bunch of City decks in all different sizes for just £40, which considering boards are going up to £55 all over the place is a pretty sweet deal, if you are as ignorant as Ranny you might not have seen much of City, that Bachinsky guy who kickflipped 20 stairs, hes on em, and Jimmy Cao who was stupidly consistent in Battle At The Berrics, him too.

The boards are rad, In fact I am putting a personal guarantee that they will not snap if you try a kickflip down 20 stairs, if you do snap a City deck doing this just bring in the footage of the attempt and I will give you a new deck for free! Can't say fairer than that!

Elwood Comp

The chaps at Two dist have been going for it lately, They distribute, Elwood, Jart, Momentum, and now Cliche and I Path too and they have been putting on a bunch of comps and events up north, its just a shame we are so far away!
Here is a bit of footage from the recent Elwood comp they held:

Sale City and Santa Cruz decks

We got a bunch of City and Santa Cruz decks and they are going straight out at £40 instead of £50! So they are a bargain! They will be online from tomorrow.

free stuff!

So there was a competition recently to win a Fourstar DVD on the Revival website.
The guys that won had to pick up their prize from a shop of their choice, and they sent us a few extra copies!

So you can win a copy of the Fourstar dvd by sending us a picture you have drawn, digitally or otherwise, of any one of the Reskue team, (it doesn't have to be good, just do one! The funnier the better!) ms paint is a good starting point, e mail your entry to andy@reskue.co.uk you have two days!

It is free and requires a very small amount of effort, so get on it!

Goings on

So I went to the Portsmouth Alien Workshop premier and missed the first half, was pretty gutted but what I saw was rad, I don't wanna give anything away so if you want to see it then come in on Thurs and get your copy, it'll be £20 but you get a book with it too so its well worth owning.

I went to London yesterday to order for Fall in Vans, Alphanumeric and LRG. Yep you read that right we are gonna be an LRG dealer very soon! I got an LRG promo too so i'll bring it in tomorrow for peeps to see.

Obviously London doesn't agree with me cos I now have flu, but i'm still here at Reskue ready to sell you skateboards, so be nice if you come in!

And finally we got some new Globes and they are pretty rad.

Only £39.99 too!

Hopefully getting up to the Mindfield premier from Bored tonight, we'll have our copies on Thursday! If you are desperate for one then maybe e mail andy@reskue.co.uk and say "I'm desperate for the new Workshop DVD" something like that, and we'll put one by.

It's true though, you may have noticed other shops have been putting up the prices of boards by a fiver - £50 decks are now £55 and UK £40 decks are now £45, they aren't trying to make more profit, it is because the value of the £ against the $, so boards are more expensive to the shops but we are having a price freeze keeping the same prices, so we are now one of the cheapest shops in the country! We'll keep boards at this price as long as we can, but if you are thinking of getting a new deck, now might be the time!

Abingdon

If you have a few hours spare then you can have a go at watching this edit.

It's Snowing!

Or it was earlier, if you are a stinking student lamo type you may not even have seen the snow this morning as it is starting to dry up.
Not much chance of skating in this kind of weather, so its not too good for skate shops but I still think it looks cool! If it becomes a regular thing we might have to start doing this:

I always thought those snow skate things kinds sucked but this vids pretty rad.

6:57 updates.

There is an update over at 6:57 of a bit of footage of the Reskue block getting some action from Paget and Pete Blackburn who has been skating really well lately.

I'm really looking forward to Robs video, and he seems to actually be getting footage so no Fully Flared setbacks are happening!

Tibs and Darren and some friends took a trip to Oxford yesterday so hopefully taters should have an edit up of that soon.

We also have new decks from Motive and restock of Harmony and Plan B decks, Harmony do really well for us and they have a new promo out too, £6 for almost an hour of skating and you get a Harmony sticker pack as well! The skating is pretty rad, however Don Brider wants to have a word with Joe Gavin about his no Complies!

I love shops

HERE is a video from a shop located in Washington in the US. Its rad, I like seeing new spots and new skaters and shop vids are always looked back at when someone inevitably gets on a proper team. Maybe that will happen with the Reskue vid?

Tuesday, 27 January 2009

Theotis

To be honest I have no idea where this vid is from, I just found it on the Tube, bangin moves though, and he is rocking the ltd Altamont Reynolds slims that we have instore! We were one of only two stores in the country to get them!

Mike Carroll

This isn't that new but someone recently was saying they were dissapointed with the Lakai vid, here is a look at why Mike Carroll is rad.

Reskue vid!

So the Reskue DVD was pretty much done, everyone had a preview of their parts and seemed to like em, but Mr Greg Nowik has just returned from months of worldwide travel and has with him about 8 tapes of footage!
SOOO we have now postponed the release of the DVD in order to make an all new Nowik part! The part I have already edited together will go in the extras so you are basically getting a bunch more skating for your money! An all new episode of The Adventures of Joe Paget is going in too.
Here are a couple of vids of what Greg was up too in Oz.

Ravenous DVD

We have a few copies of the Scene video "Ravenous" from up Chesterfield way which has sections from Shaun Currie, UK Deathwish rider Timmy Garbett and more, and its only a fiver too! to buy one have a clicky HERE.

There is also a bit of footage of Andrew Brophy over HERE. He recently won the high ollie contest at ASR, at 42", under Danny Wainwrights record of 44.5", but only because he had already beaten everyone else by then! We neeed to see a Danny/Brophy match up!

Also Mr Rob "G Fresh" Crawford has a few clips of the Reskue Block getting some action, if you want to skate it then come on down to level 3!

Sunday, 25 January 2009

Pj vs Reynolds and more!

Todays Battle at the Berrics is a banger!

There is also a wrap up of the recent Black Box trade show with a best trick video which is sick!

And there is also some terrible news regarding one of our team riders here.

Saturday, 24 January 2009

Hensley!

There are some cool vids up at Plan B catching up with Matt Hensley, I don't need to explain who he is just watch the videos, click on Plan B tv at the site.

Wednesday, 21 January 2009

Deathwish!

We have a whole grip of new Deathwish decks in stock, including a few larger sizes (8.125) for the gnarlers out there, take a look HERE.
And if you are stupid enough to have not seen the Deathwish vid you can watch
Ellington HERE
Antwuan HERE
Leo Romero HERE
Theotis Beasley HERE
Bryan Herman HERE

That is basically most of the vid, or at least all the guys who ride for Thunder that are on Deathwish.

Motive skateboards

You might not have heard of Motive, it is Rob Selleys company, who was a well known UK skater in the late nineties and early millenium with pretty tech moves at the time, he has put together a team of really good uk skaters on the tech side of things and some of them are just turning pro.
We will have the first boards from Sean Smith, Dave Snaddon and Dylan Hughes real soon, you may not have seen much from these guys, or even heard of them, but check this promo for Motive and you'll see why they deserve to be pro!
Have a look at the graphics (which are sick) and what people have to say about them over on the Sidewalk forum.

Jose Rojo

To be honest I was never the biggest fan of his skating, compared to the rest of the Enjoi team he just didn't seem to have as much talent, and could be the reason behind him being an am for years, but that is not to say he hasn't got a good style, and he seems cool from his interview. so HERE is a vid from Etnies of Jose styling out some moves.

On a related note a new Tiltmode video should be out soon, if you don't know what Tiltmode is it is basically a crew of friends from the San Jose area which has Jose, Jerry Hsu, Marc Johnson, Jason Adams, Steve Cab, Colt Cannon, Louie Barletta etc and they have made two videos before, they are both rad and definately high on the feelgood factor and broing down and so i'm looking forward to seeing the new one.
to be honest i'm only telling you now so that when it comes out and its rad i can say that I bigged it up ages ago, which makes me super cool, or something.

Here is Jerrys part from the last one.

Simple Sessions!

I would hope that most people are out skating right now but if you are unlucky enough to be reading this then click here for a live broadcast of The Simpel Sessions, a european skate comp with some big US names in attendance.

Damn son!

THIS clip of Mike Anderson from the latest Krooked catalogue is so so good! Krooked always pick up stylish dudes!

The Berrics!

So today at the Berrics is Billy Marks vs Brandon Biebel, but tomorrow is Koston vs Donovan! could well be the best game yet!

Silas Part

HERE is a little download of a Silas Baxter Neal part from the Spitfire Spring Catalogue

Scott Decenzo

HERE is a bit of footage of the Plan B am, nollie noseblunt nollieflip out is pretty sick, he has a pretty rad part in the Plan B promo which you get free with the latest decks from Plan B.

Sorry there hasn't been many posts lately, we have been skating a lot! Taters made some skate dice and i'm not sure if it was loads of fun or just plain frustrating when you get things like switch frontside 360 heel, and we all just fling our boards around. We'll try and bring you some footage soon.

Monday, 12 January 2009

BORING

Taters thinks THIS is pretty boring, but I think its kind interesting, almost all the Reskue team skate 8" boards, if you have always had small boards maybe you should try a wider one, tricks feel more solid and its less likely to break too!

Friday, 9 January 2009

Pre order!

The preorder of the Reskue Remix is up now, the DVD will be £6 and in buying it you are supporting Southamptons only independent skate shop and helping us to make more DVD's in the future.
All orders will come with free stickers too.
Preorder your copy HERE.

Superfuture

We have got the latest Plan B decks which come with a free Superfuture DVD promo, and its really good! Also you may notice at other shops that prices of decks are going up from £50 to £55, Reskue is freezing its prices and keeping US decks at £50 for as long as we can.

We also have new decks from The Harmony and restock of Karma, including the tube light decks which are one of our best selling boards!

The Reskue DVD is very close to being done, it looks like the main feature is around 25 minutes and the extras clock in around 45 mins! A lot of people are asking when they can get it, it should be in around a week but i'm going to put it up on the site to preorder, then the day it comes in all the copies will be sent straight out.

Wednesday, 7 January 2009

6:57

OK Here it is, the first trailer for mr Rob Crawfords first full length outing, should be really good, and if footage of Jack and Adam are anything to go by lately then Paget and Curt have got some work cut out, i'm sure they won't let us down though.
Get a bit of insight into it all HERE at the 6:57 blog and HERE at the sidewalk forum.

Round 1 done!

Ok here it is, the last game in round 1! And its one of the best so far, I especially liked Kostons set (i don't wanna ruin it for you!) go and watch it now!

Saturday, 3 January 2009

Tom Penny

I might have posted this before but some of you might not even know who Tom Penny is, originally from Oxford, Tom is one of the most naturally gifted skaters ever, it is easy to forget how good he is but watching this montage and seeing his style develop from sketchy to effortless is rad.

Tom Penny - eS 'Menikmati' bonus footage >>

Tom should be having a full part in the Flip video, but they keep things pretty well under wraps!
Here is more too!

Tom Penny - 411 'Wheels of Fortune' (1993) >>

Battle at the Berrics

Should I even need to tell you to check the Berrics anymore? This games a banger, PJ Ladd vs Tyler Bledsoe, and that means MJ is playing tomorrow!

Sale Time (part 2)

Yep all the sale stuff is now online too, so if you are after a bargain get looking, but BE QUICK! Seriously, even today on the second day of the sale people have come back for something and it has gone, if there is something you are after then i'd get it while you can, we are probably the cheapest place in the country for Altamont right now!

I have been really busy getting all the sale up so haven't had much time to find any vids, then I went on the shop Myspace and Force had posted us a little vid of some of the team, and they are sick too!
Check some of these guys out, the padless stuff on vert is silly!

Friday, 26 December 2008

2008 in photographs

THIS has absolutely nothing to do with skateboarding, but if you can't appreciate it as pretty amazing then you are a jerk.

A few people have asked about the Reskue video recently, most sections are finished and it is looking pretty rad,but unfortunately the computer I was using to edit is on hiatus until monday, and then getting copies made will take a while too during the festive period, so realistically it might not be officially out until the new year, if I get a copy done i'll probably play it a bit in the shop, but you should buy it you cheapskates!
I'm gonna try and work out a deal where you get a package of deck, tee and DVD at a bargain price, but you'll have to wait and see.

Sickness

This video is gonna be rad, Jimmy Mcdonald section and an awesome line up of underdog skateboarders, oh and the first of this weekends Battle at the Berrics is up too.
Speaking of rad videos, the chief has put all the old Zero videos up on the Black Box site to download for $3.99 which is probably £3 or something, definately worth it!

Thursday, 18 December 2008

New Dwindle stuff

All our new Enjoi, Almost, Blind and Darkstar stuff came today.
So we are now really well stocked for christmas, we have over 100 decks, 20 set-ups and 50 sets of wheels, making us the best place for skate hardware in Southampton, and beyond!

Tuesday, 16 December 2008

New bits and bobs!

We have had new Plan B decks from Sheckler, Prod and Danny Way and some wheels to match. Also some new Sheckler bearings and restock of the always popular Harmony decks.
Oh and if you are a fan of the Skate video game then maybe you will want to check this out too!
All the Christmas Enjoi, Blind, Darkstar and Almost stuff will be here on thurs/fri too!

Crossfire Christmas Jam!

If you didn't get to go then take a look at this vid, the standard was really high!

Crossfire Xmas Jam 2008 >>

Christmas Bits!

The first of the christmas bits for the weekend have arrived, including Independent lows at a new cheaper price (£45 a pair) and Bones Reds now a quid cheaper at £16.99!
We also have some Fox trucks which are a mid priced truck (£25 a set!) but have USA made rubbers and actually turn! They are definately good value for money and we are going to be getting a lot more in the future, if you are thinking of geting your first board or are on a budget they are great!

Thursday, 11 December 2008

Summer Bailout!

Here is a little video from the DVS chaps, including an NBD from Torey!

I have had a lot of mums coming in asking for decks which you guys may have seen which have since been sold! If you are asking for something in particular for Christmas make sure your rents put it by, or come in as soon as they can, or find out if we can order it for you. I'd hate for you guys to have asked for a deck and not got it cos its been sold, or your parents came in too late!

To keep you up to date with board brands - we have new Plan B and Harmony decks arriving all the time, including the new Plan B acid trip decks and wheels from tomorrow, all Enjoi, Blind, Almost, Speed Demons and Darkstar decks and completes are coming next thurs which are hot for christmas, new decks from Death, Heroin, Landscape are coming next week too. We have a whole bunch of Zero, Mystery and $lave decks in stock now, and new Real and DGK decks too So reskue is definately the best place to come for your skateboard hardware this christmas! And with our set-up deals its easy for us to make a set-up for you!

If you are giving your folks a list make sure you put sizes and brands that you would prefer! "Deck from Reskue" might get you something you don't want!

And don't forget that all Reskue brand clothing is HALF PRICE when you spend over £15 and the Harmony DVD is half price too, so maybe ask for a Reskue hood from Nan when she comes in with your mum!

We are open late nights from next week too!

Fourstar Tour

Here is a little vid of the offcuts from a recent Fourstar tour, its cool when the supposed offcuts are banging on their own! Maltos line is pretty sick, the Tre flip is super nice!

It's Cold!

OK so it is getting pretty cold now, and ramps and parks are getting frosty, so now even if it hasn't rained it can be wet with dew and frost, pretty whack! But come on, there are loads of car parks in town that are dry, and a couple of extra layers will keep you warm! We have been taking a block down to a car park in the evening, trying to get a few lines for the video.
It is taking longer than I anticipated to finish off, everyone just needed a last few tricks but the weather has been rubbish, and paggers swanned off to New York when we need to film his enders, hopefully it will be worth the wait though!
In the mean time I thought you guys might want to see this vid:

Pretty raw stuff, static style.
Oh and I heard today that Document is finishing after the next issue, it really is a sad state of affairs at the moment, Slaps last ever issue is this month too, and Slap was definately one of my favourite mags! With this recession all these independent mags/videos/companies really do need your support, it is you that keeps them going! And keeps Reskue going!

Kewday!

In the Reskue blog tradition here is a link that in no way encourages you to buy anything in store! Kewday is an Australian company and their new promo is well worth a look, I had seen some footage of Joe Pease before on a tour vid, everyone was skating stairs and he seemed a bit weak in comparison to be honest as he didn't have much footage, but its clear that stairs and gaps aren't his natural terrain and twangy rails and ledges are, as he kills it on this vid! Andrew Currie is awesome, his boneless is sick! Take a look HERE.
Chad Bartie rides for Globe and we sell those!
Oh and we do have some Chrstmas offers actually! The Harmony DVD is only £3 with any purchase over £10, and any Reskue brand clothing is HALF PRICE with any purchase over £15!
and you can combine the two, so you could for example get a Harmony Deck, DVD and Reskue zip for just £59.23! The deals are currently instore only.
If you are reading this after looking at the ad in Sidewalk then hi, check back everyday for new links and vids! Bookmark us!

Jailbirds!

Tampa Am is coming up and there is going to be a live webcast of it this Sunday, i'll post a link in the next day or two, in the mean time you can look at this. parties definately happen during the Tampa contests and with 100's of skaters in party mode a brush with the law is pretty much inevitable, so enter your favourite skater in the search engine and see if they have been arrested at Tampa! The wonders of the internet!

Reskue vid

When i said yesterday we were finishing off the video, i should have said TRYING to finish off the video:

Curt, Marc, Paget and Tibs sections are pretty much done, so look out for offcuts soon.

Tuesday, 2 December 2008

Funny

We are still finishing off the Reskue video, paget is getting new moves all the time, but you'll have to wait to see em, in the mean time you can laugh at this:
